Remote Sensing for Precisión Agriculture and Weed Science

From 1986 to 1999, the "Weed Science Group" was devoted to Weed Demography, Population Dynamics, Competition and Control. Since 1999, the Group name and research lines changed to "Remote Sensing for Precisión Agriculture and Weed Science". Main current research activities are focused on the optimizing of agrochemical applications through the following objectives: 1) To detect and map weeds in crops at different phenological stages, yield mapping by using remote sensing techniques and imagery from high resolution satellite imagery and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). 2) To improve the imagery analysis procedures by developing automatic algorithms focused to object- and pixel-based-image-analiyis and specific “add-on”- “plug-in” software for precision agriculture approaches as well as for an accurate georeferenciation / co-registration and classification of cropping systems.
