Biology of Agrosystems

The Agrosystems Biology Group (BAS) proposes transdisciplinary objectives and strategies, to face global problems of cultivated species that can be the object of horizontal transfer of knowledge and technology, incorporating plant genetic resources as a source of studies of diversity and genetics, and carrying out improvement programs for the development of new genetically improved varieties. BAS studies the interactions of plants and their agrosystem in legumes, horticultural and ornamentals, including physiological aspects, such as photosynthesis. The interaction of plants with the soil myrobiota (rhizobia, trichoderma and mycorrhizae) and their metabolites is also studied in aspects related to symbiotic fixation of N, disease prevention and plant growth.
