Wildlife ecology and management

Our research is focused on establishing scientific bases for reconciling wildlife conservation with the sustainable use of renewable natural resources, and solving conflicts between certain human activities (hunting, agriculture) and biodiversity conservation. The group, therefore, has a multidisciplinary focus, including empirical, experimental and modelling approaches, in the fields of applied ecology, conservation biology, conservation genetics, and socio-economics. The group is composed by two “investigadores científicos” and three “científicos titulares”, as well as a varying number of post-docs, PhD students and technicians (5, 6 and 4, respectively in 2012). In the period 2008-2012, the group has published 159 SCI papers, 26 book chapters, 8 doctoral theses and numerous dissemination publications.
