Surface Hydrology, Ecology and Erosion (SHE2)
Observation, experimentation and modelling of surface hydrology and erosion processes in a Global Change context. Conribution of physical hydrology to the improvement of river basin management.
The hydrology of Mediterranean mountains is less understood than in more temperate or dry environments, principally because it shows, throughout the year, processes which are characteristic of wet and dry areas. The Surface Hydrology and Erosion Group focused his research to the study of the hydrological dynamics of Mediterranean areas, with a multidisciplinary approach to diverse spatial scales
The group investigates various aspects of the hydrological cycle, primarily using the Vallcebre Research Catchments (NE Spain) as a field laboratory to observe, quantify, and model hydrological processes at both the plot and catchment scales. Catchment-scale studies enable the investigation of how climate change influences the transport and reactivity of key biogeochemical elements from headwaters.
