Sensory transduction and nociception

Details of the group can be found in (http://in.umh.es/grupos-detalle.aspx?grupo=20) (http://painchannels.com/index.php/index). We are interested in the structure and function of ion channels, in particular understanding their role in sensing external stimuli, focusing on the role played in mammalian thermo and mechanosensation in physiological and neurophatic condition. Our studies involve the use of a variety of techniques such as electrophysiological recordings (patch-clamp,extracellular single fibre recordings in vivo), imaging techniques (calcium measurement and confocal microscopy), molecular techniques (RT-PCR), molecular profiling (RNASeq) and behavioral testing to different animal models of chronic pain (chemotherapy-related pain, arthritic pain). Currently, our group is formed by 5 staff researchers, 1 postdoc, 3 technician and 4 graduate students. The 3 PIs lead projects and share resources a supervise personel.
