Research group on Cryptology and Information Security

GiCSI deals with the Research & development of advanced techniques to grant Security, Authenticity, Integrity and Privacy to the information transmitted or stored by electronic means. It has wide experience in: 1) design of systems for text, image and voice encryption and their cryptanalysis; 2) protocols for pseudo random number generators, digital signatures and hash functions; 3) security of secret and public cryptosystems (distribution of primes, discrete logarithm and elliptic curves); 4) design, implementation and evaluation of security protocols, cryptographic privacy-enhancing technologies, and blockchain-based protocols; 5) security in web applications, propagation of malware in social networks and social engineering; 6) implementation of a free space Quantum Key Distribution System with a world-record secure key transmission rate. The members of the GiCSI ALSO impart teaching in master's programs and courses in cryptography, cybersecurity and information assurance.
