Ecosystem Oceanography Group

The group carries out multidisciplinary research with the aim of advancing the knowledge, understanding and modeled ecosystem of various marine components in an integrated manner and at different organizational scales. This approach ranges from the identification to the simulation of key processes in the ecosystem, which play a fundamental role in the dynamics of its populations and communities. GRECO incorporates the variability of environmental conditions as well as the impact of human activities in the study of marine ecosystems, with the aim of developing applications that improve the management and conservation of biodiversity with special attention to the effects of climate change. His research areas focus on three fundamental lines: 1) microbial oceanography, 2) planktonic oceanography and 3) fisheries oceanography and marine megafauna.
