Comparative and Computacional Genomics

We cover a wide range of studies on evolutionary biology, population genetics and comparative genomics systems, from basic biodiversity work on different model and non-model organisms, to projects on compative genomics and bioinformatics. Specifically, we study evolutionary processes and adaptive mechanisms by analyzing genomic data obtained with massive sequencing techniques of art from the past and remains of extinct species; evolutionary processes associated to great apes genomes, and also transcriptomic and epigenomic analyses; understanding of the molecular basis of adaptation and the role of transposable elements on this mechanisms; chromosomal evolution and speciation, and also exploring the detection of natural selection in humans and its role in the building of human complex traits.
