Carbonization and Environment

The research activity is related to the use of wastes and renewable sources as raw materials/additives in the context of a circular and sustainable economy and to optimizing the quality of coke for steel and foundry industries. The current line of research is the result of the orientation that, in recent years, has been given to the traditional one based on coal as raw material. It has been characterized by a strong relationship with the industries in the sector since its beginning, and constitutes the driving force for the development of a circular economy and partial decarbonization linked to this industrial sector. This research line is linked to the main lines of the INCAR -decarbonization of industrial sectors- (Global Challenge A). The available infrastructure includes specific instrumentation used by the industry to evaluate raw materials and metallurgical cokes.
