Archaeology and architecture of the city


The members of the Laboratory of Archaeology and Architecture of the City (LAAC),affiliated with the School of Arabic Studies(EEA), research the settlement, architecture, urban planning, and material culture of the Islamic world, extending it to the Late Antique and Early Medieval Western Mediterranean.Since 1986, they have carried out research and restoration projects in the Iberian Peninsula, the Maghreb, Sicily, and the Near East.Is formed by five OPIs researchers, two Ramón y Cajal fellows, and four PhD candidates, along with four OPIs technicians and two M3 technicians.They lead the Andalusian research group (HUM 104) which includes academic staff from various Spanish universities, and are part of the Associated Unit for Arab and Islamic Cultural Heritage of the University of Granada (UGR -CSIC),which also includes researchers from the ILC-CSIC.They additionally offer scientific and technical services in archaeology of architecture, photogrammetry, infography and ceramic analysis.
