Intergenomics

Our group has been largely researched on bacterial conjugation using biochemical, structural, evolutionary and genetic approaches. Thus, our contribution to this field has been outstanding as indicated by the scientific production (amount of articles in high-impact factor journals and PhD thesis), the divulgation of our results in scientific meetings, and the number of projects supported by national and international competitive research funds. Our research group has three main lines of research: i) Bacterial conjugation: it includes several aspects, such as the biochemical and structural analyses of the molecular nanomotors and other components involved in the conjugative process, the phylogenetic classification of conjugative elements, conjugation kinetics, conjugation inhibition, and gene transfer in Cyanobacteria. ii) Systems and Synthetic Biology: it comprises studies on transcriptional regulators and transcriptional regulatory networks, construction of BioBrick-based genetic
