Auto-thermal pyrolysis, higher energy and operational efficiency
Device that enables the pyrolysis of a material with higher operational efficiency than traditional processes, as it eliminates the need for external heating agents to the reactor, requires smaller reactor sizes, and a reduced amount of auxiliary equipment.
- Market need
-
Conventional pyrolysis requires an external heat supply to take place, so it is limited by the available heat transfer area. This limitation becomes more pronounced as the reactor size increases or, in other words, when designing pyrolysis plants with higher processing capacities. In addition, the temperature and heating rate of the particles to be pyrolysed are significantly affected as reactor size increases, which can result in significant temperature gradients and irregularities in mass and energy transfer phenomena.
- Proposed solution
-
Thanks to the autothermal process of this device, heat is generated from within the reactor itself. This represents a clear competitive advantage in terms of efficiency, as eliminating the need for external heating agents diversifies the heat release points within the reaction zone, facilitating its rapid absorption by the endothermic reactions inherent to pyrolysis. Furthermore, it enables the use of smaller reactors and a reduced number of auxiliary equipment units, thereby lowering OPEX and CAPEX.
- Competitive advantages
-
- Higher energy and operational efficiency.
- Easier scalability (compared to conventional pyrolysis).
- Fewer auxiliary equipment (e.g., heating systems).
- Lower OPEX.
- Lower CAPEX.
