SpLine - Spanish CRG BM25 beamline at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility ESRF (Grenoble, Francia)

The main goal of the interdisciplinary and multipurpose Spanish CRG BM25-SpLine beamline is to satisfy the needs of the use of synchrotron radiation in the region of hard X-rays of the Spanish scientific community, with a broad range of interests crossing very different research areas: physics, chemistry, material science, biology, environmental sciences, and cultural heritage.

Biopesticides, Biotechnology and Natural Products Chemistry-ICA

Biopesticides, Biotechnology and Natural Products Chemistry-ICA

The research group is focused on the optimization and biotechnological production of botanical and fungal biopesticides. This research is based on the growing need for new biopesticides motivated by food security requirements increasingly restrictive in the EU. We produce and optimize biopesticides by selectively screening plants, fungal endophytes associated with plants of interest and agricultural waste in order to improve our database and library of plant, fungal and waste based extracts of potential use in crop protection and pest control.

GENETICS OF PHYTOBACTERIAL INFECTIONS

GENETICS OF PHYTOBACTERIAL INFECTIONS

The interest of the group focuses on the identification of molecular mechanisms that allow the establishment of bacterial infections in plants. We investigate several aspects related to bacterial life on surfaces using the Sinorhizobium meliloti-Medicago sativa interaction as a model system and a multidisciplinary approach that involves the use of bacterial genetics and Omics technologies.

Hormone signalling of fruit and seed development

Hormone signalling of fruit and seed development

To study the molecular and genetic mechanisms that control the development of reproductive organs and fruit-set mediated by gibberellins and other plant hormones. We are interested in studying the control of the initiation and development of ovules and seeds in model systems and in species of agronomic interest.

Details of the group can be found in (http://in.umh.es/grupos-detalle.aspx?grupo=20) (http://painchannels.com/index.php/index). We are interested in the structure and function of ion channels, in particular understanding their role in sensing external stimuli, focusing on the role played in mammalian thermo and mechanosensation in physiological and neurophatic condition.

MOLECULAR PHYSIOLOGY OF THE SYNAPSE

MOLECULAR PHYSIOLOGY OF THE SYNAPSE

Molecular mechanisms of the functional and structural maintenance of the synapse. The synapses are the points of contact where neuronal communication takes place that underlies the correct operation of the brain. The nerve endings house synaptic vesicles loaded with neurotransmitters that are released after the arrival of a nerve impulse. This phenomenon can occur thousands of times a day in terminals that are very remote from the neuronal body, as in the case of motor neurones.
