PIF2025 - Descifrando mecanismos celulares y moleculares fundamentales durante la organogénesis - (PID2024-157683NB-I00)
We are looking for a motivated student with strong interest in basic research in developmental and cell biology to join the group "Mechanisms of morphogenesis and organogenesis". Our lab investigates the intrinsic and extrinsic mechanisms that underly the formation of tubular organs, using the tracheal system of Drosophila melanogaster as a model system. As the mechanisms of morphogenesis of tubular organs have been highly conserved during evolution, tracheal development has become an ideal, amenable and tractable model system to investigate these issues. Current projects in the lab focus on 1) interactions between the tracheal tubes and the surrounding tissues/environment (in particular extracellular matrices), 2) analysis of epithelial cell adhesion and polarity and 3) tissue differentiation. The candidate will focus mainly on the characterisation of new factors involved in epithelial development and remodelling, and may also contribute to other ongoing projects in the lab. Our work lies at the interface of several disciplines, such as genetics, molecular and cell biology, and employs diverse techniques such as advanced microscopy, proteomics and quantitative biology. We offer a formative and encouraging research environment, with the possibility of doing stays in other laboratories
