Nutrition and Postharvest of Fruit Crops

The NPCF group is dedicated to deepening in the understanding of the genetic control and the physiology of the fruit quality, introducing new technologies for the agri-food industry, and improving the quality of the products through sustainable production techniques, competitive and environmentally friendly. Our studies focus on the optimization of the physiological processes that regulate the production and quality traits of deciduous fruit species, following a holistic approach. Thus, we are investigating the basic aspects of water absorption and nutrients, the distribution and physiological function of the nutrients in the plant, and the genetic control of quality traits, in parallel with the development of strategies of regional cultivation that ensures the yield, quality and economic profitability, and minimizes environmental impact, always in collaboration with different players of the scientific and agri-food stage.
