Minerals in Human Metabolism and Nutrition

This research group has got consolidated expertise in the study of the effects of minerals on metabolism, validation of the efficacy of functional foods in humans, and in nutrigenomics related to mineral metabolism. In this multidisciplinary field of the connection between minerals with other factors, the relationships between mineral and lipid metabolism, cardiometabolic risk, insulin sensitivity, and mineral and vitamin deficiencies are included. In short, the group works on different aspects of the risk of chronic diseases due to deficiency or excess. An intense activity is carried out on lifestyle factors on nutritional status and health, working with a large number of volunteers, to understand special needs that different population groups may present in order to provide them appropriate recommendations and products.
