Computational Robotics
The group investigates the theoretical, computational, and implementation challenges arising in the design, construction, and control of complex robotic systems. Among these systems, we highlight parallel robots, anthropomorphic robotic arms, intelligent prostheses, biomechanical systems for motion assistance or rehabilitation, and other robots with diverse topologies that—thanks to sufficient sensing and adaptive capabilities—can interact with humans in an agile and safe manner. The group’s work focuses on solving open problems related to these systems, whether in positional analysis, collision detection, configuration space characterization, singularity and workspace computation, forward or inverse kinematics and dynamics, or kinodynamic motion planning and optimal trajectory control. Emphasis is placed on both achieving theoretical results and experimentally validating them on physical prototypes.
