Trusted SoCs (Systems-on-Chip) based on CMOS and integrated photonics technologies

The security of modern computing infrastructures heavily relies on the hardware components but Computer-aided design (CAD) tools and frameworks required for their design and foundries for their fabrication rely on non-European companies. Recent geopolitical factors have brought into light the importance of technological sovereignty highlighting the necessity of new paradigms to provide advanced and competitive solutions. The group is focussed on: - Novel designs for secure RISC-V based System-on-Chips (SoCs), leveraging hardware-level security enhancements, and integrating cryptographic accelerators for enhanced protection against tampering and physical attacks. - Innovative Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) for the implementation of crypto primitives based on optical principles to secure quantum communication technologies. - New open methodologies to implement effective die-to-die communication and System-on-Chip (SoC) integration of PIC and CMOS Integrated Circuits (ICs).
