Health: Social and Gender Dimension

This research group is organized around a single research program focused on the social and gender dimensions of health. The interpretative theoretical model of health that guides this program—providing meaning, coherence, and temporal continuity to its projects, research lines, and, more generally, to the scientific output of the group’s members—is grounded in the biopsychosocial model. From this perspective, any health phenomenon is understood as inherently multidimensional, with the social dimension being essential for its analysis and interpretation. This implies an integrated and complex conception of health—neither monolithic nor based on linear causality—whose greatest advantage lies in its ability to incorporate into the field of health the multiple interactions that occur between body, mind, and social structure.
