Environmental Catalysis Engineering Group (ECEG)

The activities of the Environmental Catalysis Engineering Group fall within the area of Chemical Technologies, with a particular emphasis on catalytic environmental decontamination technologies aimed at developing more efficient and sustainable processes. The current main objective is the design and investigation of catalysts for advanced strategies for the treatment of contaminated waters, integrating solar-driven photocatalytic processes with other advanced oxidation processes to comply with water quality standards. These research lines focus on the removal of micro- and nanoplastics from wastewater through the integration of solar-driven photocatalytic processes with other AOPs, alongside the chemical recycling of textile waste via photoinduced depolymerization to yield monomers and high-value-added molecules.
