El laboratorio de capas finas permite fabricar capas finas de óxidos complejos mediante depósito con láser pulsado (PLD), y de metales y aleaciones mediante pulverización catódica (sputtering) usando cátodos con magnetrón. Se dispone de dos unidades de PLD (una de ellas equipada con reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED) permitiendo análisis en tiempo real, incluso en condiciones de alta presión) y una cámara de metalizaciones equipada con tres magnetrones. El acceso a todas las cámaras de procesado se hace mediante precámaras, siendo la presión base del orden de 10-8 mbar. Las capas pueden depositarse con T > 800 ºC, en atmósfera de O2 en caso de PLD y Ar en caso de sputtering.

Benefit description
The laboratory has two Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) systems. One of the two PLD systems is equipped with a Reflection High-Energy Electron Diffraction (RHEED) characterization system, allowing for real-time analysis even under high oxygen pressure conditions. Access to all processing chambers is achieved via load locks, with a base pressure on the order of 10⁻⁸ mbar. The films can be deposited at T > 800 ºC in an O2 atmosphere. Each chamber has a five target holder system with an xy scanning system. The substrate heaters, the target holder, and the laser beam entry window are all removable without pressurizing the chamber.
