Fire & Soil Biogeochemistry (BIOFIRE)

The Fire & Soil Biogeochemistry (BIOFIRE) group investigates the impact of fire on the organic fraction of natural matrices such as soils, sediments, and biomass, integrating biogeochemistry, analytical chemistry, microbial analysis, and modelling. Its goal is to understand the mechanisms controlling the transformation and stability of burned organic matter, as well as its effects on the carbon cycle, soil health, and ecosystem resilience to wildfires.
