Biotecnology and Forestry Improvement
The Biotechnology and Forest Improvement (BMF) group continues the more than 40-year research trajectory of the former group of the same name at the IIAG (CSIC), now integrated into the Misión Biológica de Galicia – Santiago Site. Our objective is to develop and transfer biotechnological tools based on in vitro culture techniques for the improvement, propagation, and conservation of forest species of interest within Spain’s main agroforestry systems. Through our research, we contribute to strengthening the sustainability and resilience of forest ecosystems in the face of climate change, emerging pests and diseases, and biodiversity loss, within the current context of global change.
