EnvironMental and sustainaBility particIpatory inforMatiOn systemS


EMBIMOS is an interdisciplinary research group that focuses on understanding, creating and implementing participatory information systems for decision-making in favour of environmental sustainability. EMBIMOS brings together researchers with extensive experience in citizen science, sustainability, environmental information systems, and the history and communication of science. Group participants bring together disciplines such as biology, electronic and environmental engineering, communication, the history of science, sustainability and environmental modelling.

Cognition and social interactions


Research interests: Our research focuses on determining cellular- and circuit-based mechanisms by which higher-order brain regions such as the hippocampus and pre-frontal cortex relay cognitive information to the hypothalamus in order to modulate innate motivated behaviors (sociability, aggression, mating). As alterations in higher brain regions contribute to neuropsychiatric diseases associated with disordered social behaviors, insight into both the normal and abnormal functions of these circuits is of critical importance.

Biophysics of Morphogenesis


Our group is interested in understanding the mechanisms at the origin of force generation, coordination and regulation in biological tissues during animal development. Our group use an interdisciplinary approach, combining expertise in Drosophila genetics and molecular biology with high-resolution live imaging, biophysical analysis and modelling, with the aim of building a quantitative description of the mechano-chemical properties of the morphogenetic processes occurring during Drosophila Melanogaster embryogenesis.
