LEARNING SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT

The research activity of this group encompasses developing machine learning techniques, from case-based learning and reasoning to probabilistic learning, and their application. In particular to health, bioinformatics, social networks, music, robotics, and multiagent systems
Main specialization

MULTIAGENT SYSTEMS

MULTIAGENT SYSTEMS

The activity of this group focuses on the design and development of multi-agent systems, namely open and distributed systems composed of intelligent agents, which are endowed with coordination mechanisms to help them collectively solve problems.
Main specialization

Theory and Simulation of Molecular Interactions (INTERMOL)

Theory and Simulation of Molecular Interactions (INTERMOL)

Our group steadily collaborates since 2005. We are currently involved in project funded by A.E.I., as well as we participate in an internationational COST action. We also maintain assiduous collaborations with Mexico (R. Hernández-Lamoneda), Italy (F. Pirani and M. Mella) and Austria (P. Scheier).
Main specialization

Molecular Astrophysics Group at IFF (ASTROMOL)

Molecular Astrophysics Group at IFF (ASTROMOL)

Astronomical observations and computational modeling of the physics and chemistry of the interstellar and circumstellar media. Development of molecular line spectroscopic catalogues for the detection of new chemical species in Space. Development of non-LTE molecular excitation and radiative transfer codes.
Main specialization

Ab-initio simulations of confined molecular systems and photo-dissociation dynamics (ABINITFOT)

Ab-initio simulations of confined molecular systems and photo-dissociation dynamics (ABINITFOT)

Our research is aimed 1) at developing state-of-the-art ab-initio modelling for confined molecular systems, including: a) the stability and properties of new-generation metal and metal-oxide clusters (surface-supported and unsupported in air or solution) down to the subnanometer scale; b) quantum nuclear effects and delocalization in fluid clusters at low temperatures (e.g., helium nanodroplets) as well as quantum confinement effects in atomic and molecular clusters in nanostructures (e.g., carbon nanotubes); 2) at studying a) the dynamics of photodissociation processes in molecules and molec
Main specialization

Molecular Clusters in gas and liquid phases (MolClu)

Molecular Clusters in gas and liquid phases (MolClu)

Our research group contributes in development of theoretical approaches, far beyond simplified models, and the design of specific computational tools to address efficiently real problems of physicochemical interest in the field that links science to technology and innovation. The main goal is the detailed understanding of a variety of molecular processes through quantum dynamics simulations. Our investigation focuses on the study of reactive collisions, large helium clusters doped with impurities, quantum molecular processes in nanoconfined systems and hydration effects in aqueous solutions.

Quantum Information and Foundations Group (QUINFOG)

Quantum Information and Foundations Group (QUINFOG)

QUINFOG, a group in the intersection between MATTER and SOCIETY due to our work in information technologies, is one of CSIC's international referents in the field of quantum technologies. The group works on fundamental, applied and industry oriented research: from quantum information to the design of hardware for quantum technologies and its applications in quantum computing (in collaboration with companies such as BBVA, GMV, or our startup Inspiration-Q), including the exploration of industrial applications.
Main specialization

Astrophysics, Particles and Cosmology

Astrophysics, Particles and Cosmology

The research of our group deals, on one side, with the study of dark energy, together with the physics of the objects involved in the observations (supernovae), confronting different types of cosmological models with observation. On the other side, we also investigate various issues related to the physics of elementary particles, including antimatter, gravity and foundations of quantum mechanics.

NMR and Molecular recognition

NMR and Molecular recognition

The NMR and molecular recognition (NMR) group began at the CIB in 2003 with the incorporation of Drs Jesús Jiménez Barbero and Fco. Javier Cañada to the CIB. In November 2014, Dr. Jiménez Barbero moved as Scientific Director to CICbioGune in Bilbao, leaving Dr.
