FPU2025 - Nanoscale Josephson Junctions: Toward the Next Generation of Quantum Devices

Superconducting circuits are at the heart of today’s quantum technologies, a fact underscored by the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics recognizing the demonstration of macroscopic quantum phenomena in Josephson junctions. As the field moves toward miniaturization, nanoscale Josephson junctions offer new opportunities to engineer, control, and protect quantum states at the single-electron level. This project aims to design and simulate next-generation superconducting devices, exploring how nanoscale effects and hybrid materials can be harnessed to build more coherent and scalable quantum architectures.
