ANTIOXIDANTS, FREE RADICALS AND NITRIC OXIDE IN BIOTECHNOLOGY, FOOD AND AGRICULTURE (ARNOBA)

The group investigates, at cell and molecular levels, the role of antioxidants, free radicals and nitric oxide in the physiology of horticultural species (pepper, tomato, olive, pea, etc.) for the development of biotechnological tools/strategies which allow a better exploitation of the nutritional features of these crops. To address these objectives, our group applies high throughput approaches (transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics), and collaborates with leader companies and foundations in the food and biotechnology sector such as Syngenta Seeds Ltd., Puleva Foods Ltd, Deoleo Inc., Agrosol, and Foundation MEDINA. In addition, we carry out research in Arabidopsis and pea, as model plants, to generate basic science knowledge to be further used in the applied objectives of the group's activity.
