Service description
SQUID based magnetometers are specialized in determining the magnetic moment of samples under a wide range of temperature and external magnetic field conditions. The use of superconducting technologies allow the use of high magnetic fields and, at the same time, the determination of weak magnetic signals.
The Service has available two SQUID magnetometers (1 MPMS-XL and 1 MPMS3) with the following characteristics:
BASE SYSTEM:
* Magnetic field range: -70kOe to 70kOe, using a longitudinal superconducting magnet.
* Temperature range: 1.8K to 400K. Temperature stability of 0.1%.
* Continuous temperature control on the 4.2K transition.
DC SUSCEPTIBILITY:
* RSO measurement mode: Magnetic moments from 10-7emu up to 0.5emu.
* DC measurement mode: Magneitc moments from 10-5emu up to 10emu.
* VSM measurement mode: Magnetic moments frome 10-8 emu up to 10emu.
SAMPLE TYPE:
* Thin films deposited on top of substrates with a maximum size of 6x6x1mm3
* Monocrystals with a maximum of 5x5x5mm3 in volume.
* Powders (milled pellets, nanoparticles, etc.). The maximum quantity varies depending on the magnetic behavior of the material.
* WE CANNOT ACCEPT LIQUID SAMPLES.
