Supercritical fluids and functional materials

The Supercritical Fluids and Functional Materials (SFFM) group currently involves a CSIC professor, a RyC fellow, four doctoral students and a Technician. The achievement of two large European Projects, the contribution of several Plan Nacional projects, and the budget of stablished collaborations with MATGAS 2000 AIE/Air Products Inc., have allowed the assembly of a laboratory of Supercritical Fluids within the ICMAB necessary to fulfill the objectives of the SFFM group. The overall SFFM group concept is to develop clean and sustainable fluid technology, based mainly on the use of supercritical CO2 (scCO2) as a solvent, for the bottom-up manufacturing of multicomponent porous hybrid products with controllable properties at various length scales, including nanometric particles, being functionality specific for implementation at the macroscale. The most important working fields are preparation of novel coordination polymers and mesoporous graphene oxide aerogels, and their hybrids.
