Polymer Photochemistry Group

The Photochemistry Group is dedicated to the synthesis of polymers and structural and surface modification of polymeric materials for Environmental, Biomedical and Energy applications. The research work is encompassed in three lines that have as a nexus to develop improvement strategies in the design of materials for the welfare of society. (i) Materials of environmental interest, from the point of view of non-accumulation in the environment through biodegradability, detection of contaminants by means of fluorescent sensor materials; use of environmentally friendly technologies (Photopolymerization, Microwave Irradiation and Plasma Treatments). (ii) Biodegradable materials and structures with antimicrobial properties for application in tissue engineering. (iii) Solid polymer electrolytes for Lithium and Aluminum batteries, sustainable, efficient and safe (leading a Project of the Community of Madrid and participation in two European Projects).
