Philology, Historiography and Textual Criticism


Study of Islamic history, culture, and civilization, with a special focus on al-Andalus, based on the editing, translation, and analysis of written sources, as well as a contemporary synchronistic study of the Arabic language based on the analysis of oral sources. The areas currently studied are: knowledge transmission networks in the medieval Islamic world; prosopography of the ulema of al-Andalus (PUA); Andalusian Christian texts; Islamic and Moorish Granada; epigraphy; the Quran in the Iberian Peninsula; political and intellectual history of the Islamic world; Arabic linguistics.
