Group for Polar Oceanography and Cryospheric Studies

The Polar Oceanography and Cryospheric Studies Group is a research group at the Institute of Marine Sciences in Barcelona, dedicated to the study of polar regions. Our research focuses on sea ice processes, ocean dynamics, and freshwater fluxes, combining satellite data, in situ observations, and numerical models. By integrating cutting-edge science and technology, we investigate how polar changes influence ocean circulation, the global freshwater balance, and climate dynamics. We are a multidisciplinary group that draws on a wide range of expertise to advance our goals. We collaborate with scientists from around the world to study the polar regions. We are committed to training and engaging in science outreach activities. This CSIC research group is also known as the Barcelona Polar Lab. We have a website and a logo.
