Functional Nanostructured Devices for Energy haRvesting and management (FINDER)

One of the greatest challenges of the 21st century is the rationalization, optimization and reduction of the environmental impact of the use and production of energy. World demand is growing, supplies are declining, and environmental conservation is a global issue. The group addresses three major issues within energy recovery and management: i) its extraction from the surrounding environment for its direct conversion into electricity, ii) increased energy efficiency, and iii) active heat management. Our group takes part in the research, development and application of new materials and devices. FINDER was founded in 2010 because of an ERC Starting Grant awarded to Prof. Marisol Martín. The results obtained have been published in journals with a high impact index (II>10), in doctoral theses, and in patents. The group has experience in technology transfer, being co-founders of the spin-off AD+Particles and collaborating with companies.
