FUNCTIONAL GLYCOGENOMICS
Glycosylation is a complex post-translational modification that generates diverse glycans, contributing to the functional diversity of proteins. Our group has focused on analyzing the N-glycome using a novel platform to study disease markers. We've collected well-characterized samples from Chagas disease, visceral leishmaniasis, and neurocysticercosis. By analyzing individual glycomic profiles, we've identified markers of treatment efficacy and disease progression. This approach has also enabled us to differentiate between latent and active forms of neurocysticercosis, providing valuable diagnostic insights.
