Energetics, Structure and Molecular Interactions


We study the gas phase reactivity, energetic, interactions and structure of neutral and ionic species with fundamental, biological and technological relevance. For this purpose we use a variety of experimental (Tandem hybrid Triple Quadrupole / FT-ICR Mass Spectrometer, calorimetry of combustion, Knudsen's effusion technique, PEPICO photoion/photoelectron coincidence spectrometry) and computational methods. The combination of the experimental results with those obtained by means of quantum-mechanic calculations (ab-initio, DFT, etc.) have allowed us: i)To obtain quantitative information on thermodynamic and kinetic of a variety of ion-molecule reactions. ii) To determine interesting and novel relationship of energy/structure and chemical reactivity. iii) To determine the thermodynamic stability of neutral and ionic species. iv) To discover new species and new types of chemical bonds.
