Electroactive oxides for smart devices

The main objective of the activities of this research group is the development of novel materials based on electroactive oxides (ferroelectrics, multiferroics, ionic conductors) aimed at their integration in smart devices related not only to EMERGENT information and communication TECHNOLOGIES (ICT) but also to HEALTH monitoring applications, not forgetting the contribution of these materials to a relevant complementary aspect such as self-powering of these devices through ENERGY harvesting. All this research is clearly positioned within the framework of the new global CSIC area called MATERIA, willing to contribute to any possible interdisciplinary thematic platform that it may be created at CSIC to respond to the challenges of the sustainable development goals involving, for example, the promotion of healthy lives and well-being for all at all ages, the access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy, or fostering innovation.
