Ecology and Marine Biodiversity

ECOBIOMAR works with biodiversity, particularly with engineer species (zooplankton), emblematic species (cephalopods), and pathogenic species (parasites), but also with cryptic environmental biodiversity in marine socio-ecological systems. Within this ontological framework (object of study), we work in several paradigms of current marine research: the dynamics of the oceanography-biota coupling in the context of climate change, the interactions between phenology and species behavior, the significance of symbiotic relationships in resource management, and the relevance of the "one health" approach in health management as a cross-cutting element in all community policies. We work to monitor and ensure the sustainability and health of marine ecosystems and their services, with a cross-cutting and multidisciplinary approach supported by Ecology as the basis of scientific knowledge, executing a research program aligned with scientific and social challenges.
