Conservation Biology and Global Change

We conduct multidisciplinary research aimed at providing the scientific knowledge necessary for the conservation of biological diversity in all its forms. It is primarily focused on threatened ecosystems, communities, species and populations. We have no taxonomic or area preferences, but for historical and practical reasons, a significant part of our work involves vertebrates. We use long time series of data to assess changes in composition, processes and dynamics in ecosystems, communities, populations and individuals, as well as their relationship with human activities at local and regional scale and with drivers of global change. To this end, we draw on other specialities (physiology, epidemiology, complex systems modelling, etc.) to determine causes, assess effects and make projections. We collaborate with researchers from CSIC, universities, and national and international research centres.
