Citizens and Institutions

The IPP research group "Citizens and Institutions" is a consolidated team, with a top-level international research trajectory. The group's mission is to generate knowledge about the social and political mechanisms that explain the relationship between institutions and citizenship in Spain, within the context of the institutions of the European Union, as well as in the broader scope of democratic societies. On the one hand, the research of the group focuses on issues regarding the ‘supply’ dimension of policies and politics, such as the impact of institutions and their rules on political outcomes, as well as the role of political parties and other sociopolitical organizations in shaping policies in both contemporary and historical contexts. On the other hand, the group analyzes core aspects of the dimensions of political ‘demand’, such as public opinion, attitudes, and behaviors of citizens toward national and European politics, as well as social norms and values
