Cardiovascular Physiopathology

The newly created group CARDIOVASCULAR PATHOPHYSIOLOGY, comes from the association and previous collaboration of the groups PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF INFLAMMATORY PROCESSES, CELLULAR ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY AND REGULATION OF HYPERTROPHY AND HEART FAILURE and the IONIC CHANNELS LABORATORY (I and II). With this association, it is proposed to provide an integrated vision on the study of cardiovascular pathologies to better understand these disabling diseases, to propose novel approaches on the pathogenic mechanisms that ultimately lead to cardiac dysfunction and heart failure, including the study of channelopathies, almost all of genetic origin. Therefore, within the most relevant lines of the group, it is worth highlighting the study of the molecular and cellular bases of hypertrophy and heart failure, including the associated inflammatory mechanisms. The group has special interest in the development of translational approaches in the field of cardiovascular pathology.
