Biogeography and Global Change
The Biogeography and Global Change Group at the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (CSIC) addresses four main research lines:
Assessing the impacts of global change drivers—including rising temperatures, altered precipitation regimes, extreme meteorological events, and increased nitrogen deposition—on terrestrial, marine, and freshwater ecosystems. This includes the development of predictive models to forecast future changes and their ecological consequences.
Investigating the interactions among multiple drivers of change—such as land and sea use change, climate variability, and biotic interactions—and their combined effects on species, communities, and ecosystems. Special emphasis is placed on how biotic interactions themselves are modified under changing environmental conditions, and how these feedbacks influence biodiversity and ecosystem resilience.
Providing scientific support for conservation, ecological restoration, and sustainable land and sea man
