Agro-Food Systems and Territorial Development

The group aims to investigate the behaviour and make a prospective assessment of agri-food systems from a territorial development approach, based on the wide range of spatially differentiated responses with different historical trajectories. The context of analysis in which the group situates itself is the new functionality that agri-food systems and territorial development processes (rural and urban) have at the global and local levels, from economic, productive, social and environmental perspectives. The spatial focus of the research process refers to a socially and economically constructed territory, identified by its natural and cultural heritage and regulated at the institutional level. It is a research field with a marked transdisciplinary character: geographical, economic, sociological, anthropological and political approaches converge with perspectives from agriculture, food and environmental sciences.
