At Fonoteca Zoológica the tasks of managing the funds constituted by the own recordings of investigators and collaborators deposited in the collection of own sounds and those constituted by the sonorous guides compiled in the collection of published sounds are carried out. The collections are formed by the sound registers, each one of them being associated by means of an unique and identifying code to its file with metadata. In each file is stored all the information referring to this record. The indexation of these sonorous registers in a relational database allows us a much more precise and fast search of the material object of study. Each record is indexed according to taxonomic criteria so it is a very useful and practical scientific tool, being able to locate the necessary species quickly and easily thanks to these databases. Also each record contains audiovisual information (images and sounds representative of each species) available on the web www.FonoZoo.com, and there is the possibility of georeferencing the place where the recording of each record has been made. For all the above, it is important to develop and maintain the databases of the collection updated, and is a constant management as the collection is constantly growing due to the receipt of new funds periodically. IMPORTANT: Exceptions to these services are all those requests whose result leads to the improvement of the scientific quality of the collection, or those which by their nature cannot enter into competition with the private sector.
