Polymers and Soft Matter Group

Polymers and Soft Matter Group

The group of "Polymers & Soft Matter (http://www.sc.ehu.es/sqwpolim/PSMG/) is a well-established and cohesive group of research, which carries out its activity in the “Materials Physics Center (CFM)”. The scientific activity of the group of “Polymers & Soft Matter” deals with the study of materials based on polymers and soft condensed matter. This activity is mainly focused on basic and basic-oriented science.
Main specialization

Theory of Nanophotonics Group

Theory of Nanophotonics Group

The group is devoted to the theoretical study of the interaction between electromagnetic radiation and nanostructured materials. The topic is commonly names as Nanophotonics.
Main specialization

Laser Spectroscopy and Photonic Materials Group: LASES

Laser Spectroscopy and Photonic Materials Group: LASES

i) Synthesis and physical characterization of photonic materials Optoelectronic properties of new materials: ii) Design, make up, and simulation of optoelectronic devices such as optical amplifiers, lasers, light conversors, etc. iii) Optical characterization of photonic materials by using high resolution spectral and temporal spectroscopies. iv) Theoretical and experimental studies of laser-induced cooling processes in solid-state materials. v) Theoretical and experimental studies of light propagation and confinement in micro-nano structurated inhomogeneous media: random lasers and biomedical

Nanomaterials and Spectroscopy Group

Nanomaterials and Spectroscopy Group

The main mission of the Group is to conduct world-class basic and applied research in nanophotonics and novel nanomaterials with the focus on the mechanisms and applications of light harvesting and energy transfer/conversion on the nanoscale.
Main specialization

Archaeology of urban planning, architecture, landscape and image.

Archaeology of urban planning, architecture, landscape and image.

Roman architecture and urbanism. Archaeology of Building: Analysis of the organization of built spaces and their historical significance. We combine the social and ideological value of architecture. We propose a stratigraphic approach to the analysis of Roman buildings traditionally studied from a stylistic approach with the methods of the Archaeology of Architecture School.
Main specialization

DISCOURSE ANALYSIS

DISCOURSE ANALYSIS

Within the hispanism framework, it deals with the study of the literary, scientific and other special discourses as cultural studies, travel literature, theater discourse and special lexicon.
Main specialization

LINGUISTIC CHANGE AND HISTORY OF SPANISH LANGUAGE

LINGUISTIC CHANGE AND HISTORY OF SPANISH LANGUAGE

The members of the group recover the textual heritage of Spanish, mainly of Medieval and Renaissance periods. Once revalued through its philological editing and linguistic analysis, they make it available to society in general with the help of the Digital Humanities. Keywords: text editing, electronic corpus, history of Spanish language, linguistic variation.
Main specialization

Spanish, language variation and linguistic technologies

Spanish, language variation and linguistic technologies

The group undertakes the study of Spanish through the lense of its synchronic and diachronic varieties as well as the novel linguistic technologies useful to their analysis. The variation under scrutiny thus encompasses historical, geographical and social manifestations along with structural features of the language, contemplated also from a comparative interlinguistic perspective. Several lines of research are developed by a lean staff under a number of competitive financed projects. The group has proved able of attracting pre- and postdoctoral students and researchers.

Research Group on Culture, Publishing, and Literature in the Hispanic World (19th-21st centuries)

Research Group on Culture, Publishing, and Literature in the Hispanic World (19th-21st centuries)

The Group's research is centered on the analysis of the contemporary cultural and publishing field (centuries XIX-XXI), beginning with (fundamentally) New Cultural History. From an interdisciplinary perspective the Group undertakes the study of the circuit that involves literary communication, as well as the study of its implied agents (writer, editor, cultural intermediaries and readers).

InGenArTe (GENDER STUDIES IN CULTURAL INDUSTRIES AND STAGE ARTS RESEARCH GROUP)

InGenArTe (GENDER STUDIES IN CULTURAL INDUSTRIES AND STAGE ARTS RESEARCH GROUP)

InGenArte tries to research women’s presence and their contributions in the processes of artistic and theatrical creation, production and distribution (texts, staging and management, etc.) and the modernity of their expression languages and techniques. InGenArte also researches into the representations of female and male identity models, paying attention to their reproduction and consolidation of stereotypes. We also propose a new canon of dramatic creations suitable for cultural schedules and educational institutions.
