The herpetological collection provides loans for strengthening the role of museums in citizen access to scientific culture, as a member of the Spanish Museum System (RD 620/1987), the "National Network of Science Centers and Museums Technology and Innovation "(2008, FECYT) of the" Network of Museums of Spain "(RD 1305/2009), and as a member of the" International Council of Museums' (ICOM). Herpetological collection are provided for use in exhibitions and other public programs. Collection staff assumed in any case, the internal technical and administrative management concerning the parts pre-selection of the most suitable to expository discourse raised, and the preparation of the finally selected by the scientific information necessary to produce the brackets. This work requires a thorough knowledge of the Collection of amphibians and reptiles, its scientific and cultural uses and history. At the end of the event, the internal administration of returning the pieces in the collection, checking their condition after returning the material to the collection or the museum, and the return of the same is assumed to its location in the warehouse or in the exhibitions themselves.
1. Loans for exhibitions and public programs in the MNCN
The application is started on request by the person responsible for coordinating MNCN exposure, which provide relevant information sufficient to ensure the availability of adequate material conditions of exposure time. The movement of the pieces safely stores between collections and the exhibition rooms is organized. It is responsible for contact with the photo service to obtain high quality images of the specimens to be displayed.
2. Loans for external exhibitions to MNCN
The request is made to the direction of MNCN between three months and one year before the celebration of the event, to ensure the availability of the material and compliance with all required legal procedures. The loan is made to entities that can guarantee the preservation and safety of the pieces throughout the duration of exposure (Law 16/1985). Detailed information from the center of the place settings and environmental conditions and campus security is required. Departure clearance by ministerial order, which must be processed through the Heritage Service of the CSIC, is required. Including conditions must be met in the loan file for temporary exhibitions or deposits (CSIC).
The service staff responsible for drafting the specific conditions regarding zoological museum collections, setting the insurance value of each piece, and each provides images for inclusion in the CSIC record. It may require the involvement of other internal departments of the museum. It is also responsible for the organization by the coordinator of the movement of parts through specialized transportation. Control packing unpacking, and assembly-disassembly of parts of the collection, for what is usually required to travel as a courier in the town of exposure. Depending on the needs can delegate the function of mail technical staff from other collections, or assume the tasks delegated to act as mail from other collections.
Exhibitions outside the country also require express prior permission of temporary export of Ministry of Culture, which is processed by the service if the move involves only specimens of this collection, or has assumed the role of coordination of the Museum. The application at least one year must be made before the conclusion of the exhibition, to ensure compliance with all required legal procedures
IMPORTANT: Excepted from this provision are all requests whose outcome leads to the improvement of the scientific quality of the collection, or those which by their nature cannot compete with the private sector.
