AURES II Fifth Regional Workshop: The impact of auctions on the renewable energy sector

The AURES II fifth of six planned regional workshops will take place online. The AURES II Regional Workshops are held to validate intermediate results, collect feedback and new information, and disseminate project results.

The theme of the fifth regional workshop is The impact of auctions on the renewable energy sector. The impact of auctions and their design elements on firms, renewable energy sectors and countries will be discussed, mostly with a European focus. The overall theme will be the impact of auctions on the renewable energy sector: in the workshop the impact of auctions and their design elements on firms, renewable energy sectors ad countries will be discussed in depth, with a focus on Europe.

The AURES II regional workshops are aimed at and attract vast international audience in the world of RES, such as researchers, representatives of industries and policy makers, regulators and associations. Our goal is to share the findings of our research as well as collecting feedback and new information, so we encourage all stakeholders to participate and contribute to a stimulating and fruitful discussion. 

There will be nine planned sessions, each composed of a presentation followed by Q&A. The first three sections will be focused on RES auctions in Spain, and will be presented by guest speakers from the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, the association of renewable energy companies(APPA), and the Spanish Wind Energy Association (AEE). Next, members of the AURES II consortium will address the impact of auctions on the renewable energy sector from different angles, covering topics such as the impacts on the supply chain, cross-border auctions, financing, technological biases, case studies, and possible scenarios for the future of RES.
