Primary metabolites by using GC-TOF-Mass (GC - Agilent 7890B; TOF Mass - Leco)

Primary metabolites such as carbohydrates, amino acids, organic acids (List 1) are analyzed by Gas chromatography (GC) coupled to time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOF-MS).
The Service offers:
Extraction and derivatization of samples.
Injection of the samples in the GC-MS system.
Identification and relative quantification of the metabolites available in the Service's database.
Currently, in the Metabolomics Platform of the IHSM (MetaboIHSM), protocols are available for the processing (extraction, derivatization) of the following plant sample matrices: fruit, leaf, root, stem.
To be accepted by the metabolomics service, samples must meet the following requirements:
1. The user must report in detail the origin of the sample (plant specie), matrix (leaf, fruit, root, stem), quantity (total number of samples), and recommended handling precautions.
2. Samples must be unequivocally labeled for their perfect identification.

AMINO ACIDS= Histidine, Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Threonine, Tryptophan, Valine, Alanine, Arginine, Asparagine , Aspartic acid, Glutamic acid, Glutamine, Glycine, Proline, Serine, Hidroxyproline, Tyrosine, GABA, ß-alanine.
SUGARS= Glucose, Fructose, Sucrose, Xylose, Maltose, Maltotriose, Isomaltose, Trehalose, Raffinose, Rhamnose.
ORGANIC ACIDS= Malic acid, Citric acid, Tartaric acid, Salicylic acid, Oxalic acid, Fumaric acid, Succinic acid, Galacturonic acid, Glucuronic acid.
POLYALCOHOLS= Glycerol, Xylitol.
