Functional Porous Materials Group

The research lines of the Group are focused on the development of new synthetis strategies for porous materials including: a) porous carbons (ranging from micro-, to meso- and also macroporous carbons), b) structured inorganic oxides and c) hydrothermal carbons. The main goals are: i) control of the structural properties (pore size, particle size, morphology, etc) of the synthesized materials, ii) control of the chemical characteristics (doping with oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur...) and iii) synthesis of hybrid materials combining properties (such as porosity and magnetism or area and catalytic activity). Additionally to the development of the materials we analyze the use of these materials in several areas such as catalysis and photocatalysis, CO2 capture, adsorption, H2 production and storage, and electrochemical energy storage and production.
