The institutional delegates (DI) are responsible for promoting and strengthening institutional relations and scientific collaboration with universities, public administrations and other entities in order to achieve the CSIC's research, training, knowledge transfer, scientific dissemination and visibility objectives. There are DIs in all the Autonomous Communities. The CSIC also has nine territorial support and coordination offices in the autonomous communities of Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, the Canary Islands, Castile and Leon, Catalonia, Galicia, Madrid and Valencia, known as institutional delegations.
There is also a DI with the European Union, with an institutional delegation in Brussels, whose function is to represent the CSIC in matters related to the European institutions.
