EVOLUTIONARY GENETICS

The group is dedicated to the study of insect and human microbiota from an evolutionary point of view and a systems biology perspective. Symbiosis in insects. The study of the integration at the molecular level between host and symbiont requires a joint analysis of the eukaryotic host and its closely associated microorganisms. The study of the genomes of a variety of microorganisms can provide clues for the understanding and synthesis of minimal cells with applications in biomedicine, bioremediation and biotechnology. Human microbiota: We study the composition and progression of the human microbiota located in different parts of the body, particularly the intestinal microbiota, throughout the life of individuals in conditions of health and disease. We apply multiomics technologies and the prediction of diseases associated to the environment by means of machine learning and massive multiomics data of the human host and its microbiota, as well as biochemical markers
